Gaetan Chenier

President & CEO

Gaetan Chenier established the Chenier Group in 1999 and remains its CEO. His principal role in the firm is real estate development and acquisitions and he is held in high regard by his professional peers.

Gaetan has an extensive background in both commercial and residential real estate and combines that with a thorough knowledge of office furnishings and design. In addition, he is well versed in LEED and is a strong proponent of the concept. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

The LEED concept focuses on green environmental sustainability that includes site development, water and energy efficiency, the types of materials utilized, and creating a healthy interior environment for those who work in the building. Because of Chenier’s commitment to LEED standards, a number of his firm’s more recent projects, notably the RCMP headquarters in Cornwall, Ontario are built to LEED standards. While not certified, 545 Rideau was built to LEED certified standards which is uncommon in the residential industry.

Through his expertise, the Chenier Group has completed a broad range of acquisition and development projects for agencies such as London Life, the RCMP, Ontario Provincial Police, Infrastructure Ontario, Great West Life, Public Works Government Services of Canada, and RBC Dominion Securities. Chenier Group has also completed projects and manages projects for its own portfolio including two purpose built apartment buildings. To this day, Chenier Group has undertaken projects across Ontario and is currently active in the National Capital Region.

Chenier, a native of Cornwall, Ontario now resides in Ottawa. To relax, he enjoys his family and stays fit with regular workouts at Movati. Of note is the fact that he holds a Transport Canada Pilot’s license with both Instrument and night ratings.

Malcolm Macpherson

FMA, General Manager

Malcolm MacPherson’s journey with Chenier Group began in 2004 when he assumed the role of property manager. After 15 years of exemplary service, Malcolm accepted a promotion to General Manager in 2019.

Educationally, Malcolm holds a Business Management Diploma from St. Lawrence College, providing him with a solid foundation in management principles. To further enhance his expertise, he has obtained professional certification from the Building Owners & Managers Institute of Canada and is recognized as a certified Facilities Management Administrator.

As the General Manager, Malcolm shoulders a comprehensive set of responsibilities that are integral to the success and growth of Chenier Group in property management, acquisition, and development.

Malcolm oversees the entire portfolio of properties under the organization’s purview, ensuring each one operates seamlessly and aligns with the company’s strategic objectives. A meticulous professional, Malcolm monitors the life cycles of building systems, implementing proactive measures to enhance efficiency and sustainability. He is adept at developing and monitoring building budgets, ensuring financial stability and optimal resource allocation. Recognizing the importance of fostering positive tenant relationships, Malcolm actively engages with all tenants, including institutional, commercial, and residential. His commitment to customer satisfaction is evident in his hands-on approach, ensuring that tenants’ needs are not only met but exceeded.

Malcolm actively contributes to the expansion of Chenier Group through his involvement in property acquisition and development initiatives. He takes charge in monitoring project budgets and timelines from conception to completion. His strategic oversight ensures that projects are not only delivered on time but also within budgetary constraints.

Nicolas Chenier

B.Comm., Residential Leasing Manager

Nicolas Chenier is currently serving as the Residential Leasing Manager for Chenier Group. After graduating with Honors in Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa in 2014, he began with Chenier Group as a Property Manager. In late 2020, Nicolas took on the additional role of Residential Leasing Manager for Chenier Group’s flagship project, 545 Rideau. After its acquisition, he took on leasing responsibilities for The Highlight Apartments as well.

Nicolas has been instrumental in overseeing various aspects of residential leasing, including showing, marketing, accounts receivable, and ensuring compliance with residential law. While Nicolas no longer directly participates in day-to-day property management, he remains deeply involved in technical aspects, collaborating closely with colleagues, notably Malcolm, to address building systems and technologies.

Beyond his managerial responsibilities, Nicolas has actively participated in the bidding of numerous projects and played a role in evaluating potential ventures. 545 Rideau, a purpose-built apartment building featuring 114 units, presented a unique opportunity for Nicolas to showcase his skills. His involvement in the design process contributed to reshaping the unit mix, to optimize rents and construction costs.

Nicolas Chenier’s journey at Chenier Group exemplifies a commitment to excellence, innovation, and a keen understanding of the dynamic real estate landscape. With a focus on integrating technology and strategic decision-making, he continues to contribute significantly to the success and growth of Chenier Group in the competitive real estate market.
